Richard and Christianne's Story....

Richard was born Apr 9 1947 to William and Elizabeth. He had two brothers and nine sisters. When he was a young man he probably apprenticed with his father to learn the shoemaking trade. He and Christy were most likely married in 1866. Their first of nine children, Albert Wellington was born Oct 31 1868. I have not been able to find the 1871 census record for them.

Christianne was born June 12 1845 to John Wallace and Sarah Ellen (Eleanor) Dillabough. She had three younger sisters and no brothers. Her father died in 1857, leaving her young mother hard put to support four young children. In 1861 Ellen is listed as a widowed housekeeper and none of the children are living with her. The youngest child, Sarah who was only one when her father ided was raised by her uncle and aunt George and Emaline Dillabough. The older girls were probably taken in as hired girls, but only Hannah shows up in the 1861 census as a hired girl.
